Sports offer more than competition. Playing sports builds perseverance, accountability, and teamwork — and for many kids, provides structure, community, and a sense of belonging. But rising costs have turned playing into a privilege instead of a right. That needs to change.
Through targeted grant programs and innovative technology, Fastbreak Impact works to ensure cost is never the reason an athlete sits out. We partner with families, sports organizations, and community leaders to clear the path, so young athletes can pursue their ambitions.
Our technology-based approach makes the process simple for families and transparent for donors. We pay vendors directly on behalf of athletes, track every dollar, and make it easy to see exactly where the money goes.
Youth sports costs have jumped 46% since 2019 (twice the rate of inflation) and continue to climb.
Kids from under-resourced communities quit sports at six times the rate of their wealthier peers, almost always because of cost.
Only about 1 in 3 kids from the lowest-income homes play organized sports, and the gap with the wealthiest kids has nearly doubled in a decade.
